Volunteer, Student Workers & Internship Opportunities
We Need You! The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum seeks committed, reliable, and enthusiastic volunteers and interns who share a passion for service, history, and preserving the story of the Buffalo Soldiers.
The Museum is seeking volunteers to serve Monday through Saturdays, for various shifts between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. Monday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Volunteers must possess a strong work ethic, be detailed orientated and open to working with visitors from diverse backgrounds. We ask that each volunteer commit to at least four hours per week. Volunteer schedules are flexible and will be coordinated by the Volunteer and Intern Coordinator.
Student workers and Interns

Volunteers and interns will be able to work with various military artifacts, including uniforms, letters, medals, photographs, memorabilia and other items. They will learn and work with the accessions software to update inventory and accession items.
- Guest Services
Those serving in this capacity will be the first face that the visitors will see. Volunteers will welcome visitors to the museum, assist with check-in and directing visitors to the appropriate locations.
Volunteers and interns will assist in cataloging the library books, printing labels, shelving books, checking books and other materials in and out out for use only within the library.
- Programs & Events
Help serve our guests and attend programs and events free of charge!
Volunteer docents will be responsible for learning a 30-45 minute script to lead patrons on a tour of the museum.
